Last year, Tadej Pogacar said he was tired after the Tour de France. He therefore refrained from attempting a Giro-Tour-Vuelta treble. This year, he did not participate in the Giro d'Italia, while Jonas Vingegaard broke his collarbone during the Tour de France—an event the Slovenian won convincingly. He has decided not to pin on a race number again until 2027.
At the starting line in Monaco—his home turf—Pogacar is therefore the overwhelming favorite. He is expected to win the event without having to push himself to the limit.
Three riders have already been listed in our doping directory. Nairo Quintana—who also appears in our directory and for whom this was the last chance to compete in a Grand Tour—was not selected by Movistar.
To complement these statistics, we are presenting our Confidence Index (ICCD) for the sixth time. It will shed new light on the teams competing in this Vuelta, helping to determine who can be trusted.
